Gender inequality in the fashion industry has been a topic of conversation for a while now, an accusation that has an absence of glass ceilings
David Gandy, an English model from Essex has been lamenting the plight of men in fashion. "Women in my industry earn four times more than I do. they're treated with much higher acclaim." says Gandy in an interview a couple days ago. Is this because they objectify sex in order to earn that extra? or is it just because that's what people rather see. A girl in a tight body suit is definitely more appealing than a man in white pants with a grey hoodie on.
David is known to be the new James Bond of fashion so why is he so worked up? He's not totally wrong as if I were to think of how many women get to the top in fashion it would be mind boggling, try Stella McCartney, Donna Karan, Alberta Ferreti, Fendi sisters, Alison Loehnis and the like and as for entrepreneurs , magazine editors and fashion hosts there are just too many to mention. The high heels, long hours, and the hard labour all add up to deliver the glamorised world of fashion. Women aren't any easier to work for then men. Women are made to frequently change their hair, wax their legs, keep their perfect skin after being caked up with make up on a daily basis, asked to look and remain a certain size, eat certain foods. Don't they deserve that extra money? The high glass heels and tight dresses can't help.
We're constantly obsessing over our weight, going on health diets, wondering why It just won't work... Here are a few reasons why This site will tell you what you're doing wrong. http://www.shape.com/weight-loss/weight-loss-strategies/10-fitness-faux-pas Here are a couple myths and facts about losing weight. Myth- Starving can make you lose weight. Fact - This is a way of literally sickening yourself, crash diets can cause short- term weight loss and in the spur of the moment you might not actually mind but I promise (from personal experience) It only makes you gain more weight in the long term as It causes the body to remain low on energy which makes you crave high-fat and high sugar foods and resistance can always make you irritable which leads to binge eating and we all know how that turns out?!. Myth- Low fat foods always help you lose wight Fact- Foods that are described "low-fat" or "fat free" are barely ever actually calorie-free. In fact some products might actually have higher calorie value. Myth- Avoid nuts as they are fattening Fact- Nuts contain, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals which contribute to a healthy diet. Nuts keep the blood suger levels steady and keep a person full for longer. They also contain some good fat which helps in losing weight. Myth- Foods like Celery, grapefruits, cabbage soups are miracle fat burning foods Fact- Absolutely no food has the ability to burn fat. Although these foods are very low in calories, or almost not calorific at all and also tend to have caffeine which can speed up the metabolism. I'm not saying they don't help in weight loss because they actually do, They just don't "burn fat". Myth- Eating after 6 is a diet no-no Fact- Fitness and Lifestyle consultant, Ashley Borden states "If you are finding yourself bingeing at night, chances are you are not eating anywhere near good calories during the day", which means It's not WHEN you eat its WHAT and how much you eat. Often people don't eat so much during the day, or skip meals and tend to over eat at night. That is where the problem lies.
This is how I discovered them, now how can someone NOT instantly fall in love with them?
Janoskians - Just another name of silly kids in another nation (skip)
They're a youtube sensation. A group of pranksters, comedians, singers, entertainers and the loves of my life. Based in Melbourne, Australia. 5 beautiful boys between the ages of 16-19 are the only ones that can actually rescue me from a bad day. They are just the most hilarious set of reckless teenagers who I adore with all my heart and soul.
Starting with Beau Peter Brooks; the main man as many would say, with the most beautiful eyes and most revolting chunder he pretty much sums up to be perfect. LOOK AT THAT FACE!
Daniel Sahyoune (Skip) ; is such a LAHME with his perfect piercings, especially the one on his nipple.. YALAAHH. My favorite thing about him is his pelvic thrust. Oh my does he have moves or WHAT!
Luke and Jai Brooks. The LOVE I have for these two stunning twins is unreal. They both are the cuuuutest things in existence. If I ever feel low I just can't help but cringe/laugh at the thought of the two. can't compare them cos they're both impeccable <3
Last but not the least; James Yammouni is not only the youngest in the group but also often forgotten, he's just as much of a Janoskian as the others are. He's JUST as hilarious if not more. I have too much love for him.
As I keep blogging most of you will start to discover my alcoholic tendencies... So I was at this restaurant down in MK yesterday where I discovered the most amazing drink. It obviously depends on everyones taste buds but I definitely recommend it to every human cos its just THAT awesome. So I went berserk trying to find the perfect recipe but nothing tastes as good. I would tell you where I tried it but I don't quite remember the name of the place. But what I did do was find something that could possibly match up and taste almost as lovely.
So you're going to need -
1 oz. vodka
1 1/2 oz. Sour Apple Pucker schnapps
1/2 oz. cinnamon schnapps
2 oz. apple juice
and a tiny bit of pineapple juice
and you're all set for the most amazing drink of your life. :)
So as I troll through Lookbook.nu A website I'm a little too obsessed with, I find that as the days go by my sense of fashion is escalating and not in the way that I'd like it to. I remember my first day at Uni. I literally got up 4 hours before my first lecture to take a long hot shower, blow dry and style my hair, put on my cake- like make up, try on every outfit in my cupboard (mind, I have more clothes than I can fit so I have to keep them under my bed hah) and chose the perfect shoes. Then walk out feeling confident and quite happy. Thing is, I know many say that you can't rely on make- up and great outfits to make you beautiful, but that's not why I made the effort, I did it because it made me happy, feel more myself. A girl doesn't have to be going through an inferiority complex, or self loathing streak in order to want to put on those extra fake lashes or that bright red lipstick. I feel a girl should chose what she wants to do with her face/hair/dressing as long as she truly feels herself with it. Okay got a bit carried away there. hahaha. (that was feminist no?idk)
So what I was saying was that, I literally don't know how to dress up anymore. I'm constantly going through different phases in terms of my style, I sometimes dress super chic or really punk-rock or even quite hippy. But it varies and I'm always trying to modify my look in some way. I watch too much tv and get influenced by everyones style for example Lucy Hale(Aria) Pretty little liars, Gillian Zinser (Ivy) 90210, and Kaya Scodelario (Effy) from Skins. It's all so confusing when you don't know just how you really like to dress, I do think experimenting is fun though. New colours, new hairstyles, new socks? ;) My friends used to always come ask me for advice over clothes and hairstyles but now I've lost my touch, completely! I dress for comfort which isn't a bad thing but It's just not me and I can't really figure out what I need to do. I think I'm just bored of everything. I need a new look.
Was thinking more Rita Ora? or just a little tweaked. Man this is confusing. I'm going going to get into bed and try to come up with something original.
