Diet myths

We're constantly obsessing over our weight, going on health diets, wondering why It just won't work...
Here are a few reasons why

This site will tell you what you're doing wrong. http://www.shape.com/weight-loss/weight-loss-strategies/10-fitness-faux-pas

Here are a couple myths and facts about losing weight.

Myth- Starving can make you lose weight.
Fact - This is a way of literally sickening yourself, crash diets can cause short- term weight loss and in the spur of the moment you might not actually mind but I promise (from personal experience) It only makes you gain more weight in the long term as It causes the body to remain low on energy which makes you crave high-fat and high sugar foods and resistance can always make you irritable which leads to binge eating and we all know how that turns out?!.

Myth- Low fat foods always help you lose wight
Fact- Foods that are described "low-fat" or "fat free" are barely ever actually calorie-free. In fact some products might actually have higher calorie value.

Myth- Avoid nuts as they are fattening
Fact- Nuts contain, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals which contribute to a healthy diet. Nuts keep the blood suger levels steady and keep a person full for longer. They also contain some good fat which helps in losing weight.

Myth- Foods like Celery, grapefruits, cabbage soups are miracle fat burning foods
Fact- Absolutely no food has the ability to burn fat. Although these foods are very low in calories, or almost not calorific at all and also tend to have caffeine which can speed up the metabolism. I'm not saying they don't help in weight loss because they actually do, They just don't "burn fat".

Myth- Eating after 6 is a diet no-no
Fact- Fitness and Lifestyle consultant, Ashley Borden states "If you are finding yourself bingeing at night, chances are you are not
eating anywhere near good calories during the day", which means It's not WHEN you eat its WHAT and how much you eat. Often people don't eat so much during the day, or skip meals and tend to over eat at night. That is where the problem lies.
